Introducing our brand-new TLL Career Discovery Series, where we talk to the top minds and experts in every field, giving our students the chance to learn from the very best. Through this series, we hope that our students will get inspired and discover future pathways to achieving their biggest dreams – beyond academic success. 

In the first of the TLL Career Discovery Series, we delve into the intricate world of the legal profession. Join us on 28 November, 7PM to find out: What does it take to become a lawyer? What do law firms look out for when they hire, and what are the notable up-and-coming legal specialisations? 

Gracing us with their presence and expertise are Dr. Haiyan Tang, Managing Partner of Quinn Emanuel’s Shanghai office, and Mr. Duncan Watson, Managing Partner of Quinn Emanuel’s Singapore office. Together in conversation, they will be giving us a glimpse of how they have carved out their niches in arbitration and litigation. The internationally acclaimed lawyers will also be shedding light on law school entry requirements and addressing some common misconceptions about the profession.

Mr Chin Yu Oh
Director, Private Credit, KKR Singapore

Mr Chin Yu Oh joined KKR in 2020 and is a Director on the Private Credit team focusing on South-East Asia.

Prior to joining KKR, Mr Oh was a director at Värde Partners, where he spent more than five years working on corporate and property-backed investment opportunities in south-east Asia, Australia and New Zealand, across private equity, structured credit and special situations lending.

He began his career as an analyst in the south-east Asia M&A and corporate finance team at UBS Investment Bank. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Chicago.

Ms Haidee Chiu
Principal, Private Credit, KKR Hong Kong

Ms Haidee Chiu joined KKR in 2021 and is a Principal on the Private Credit team focusing on North Asia.

 

Prior to joining KKR, Ms Chiu was at Tahan Capital, a local credit-focused asset manager, working on investment opportunities in Asia, across public high-yield credit, private financing and special situations lending.

 

She holds a B.B.A. in Accountancy and B.A. in Economics from the National University of Singapore.
