Cultivate an Inquisitive Mind
Cultivate an Inquisitive Mind
Primary 3 students take on a new subject (Science) this year that encourages deeper exploration of the world around them. Also sitting for their first examination this year, our Primary 3 programmes will introduce important skills like precision, self-evaluation, and time management, to guide them through this process
English
Lesson Duration: 1 hr 45 mins
Class Size: 12 students
Our Primary 3 English programme uses a wide range of topical passages to engage your child, encouraging them to develop an interest in real-world affairs. During our interactive lessons and activities, your child will discover different question types and pick up examination techniques to help them answer with precision.

Language Mastery
Students will start learning intermediate grammar rules such as tenses, subject-verb agreement, as well as synthesis and transformation. Together with thematic vocabulary, it will help them build a strong foundation in the language.
Skills and Techniques
With ample opportunities for public speaking, students will hone their communication skills during individual presentations.
Reading & Writing: Students refine their reading and writing skills through a wide variety of passages, ranging from expository to personal recounts, as they learn the structure of a good story and its associated writing techniques, including simple characterisation and slow-motion description. Such exposure stimulates their ability to create story ideas and implement varied sentence structures in their writing, based on given topics or pictures.
Metacognition: Students will build their metacognitive abilities through various self-evaluation methods such as clue sourcing, error analysis and answer precision.
Contextualised Learning
To contextualise their learning in the real world and help students draw greater relevance to the lesson content, we incorporate current affairs and trending topics into our curriculum.
Mathematics
Lesson Duration: 1 hr 45 mins
Class Size: 12 students
As maths topics and questions become increasingly complex, our Primary 3 Maths programme reinforces concepts previously taught in Primary 1 and 2, while introducing key heuristics (problem-solving methods) to prepare your child for the formal year-end assessment.

Content Mastery
Students will master new geometry topics such as Angles and Parallel and Perpendicular Lines under Geometry, Bar Graphs and Area and Perimeter, as they learn to solve new word problems that involve the comparison of multiple quantities, internal and external transfers, number x value, constant difference, and topics on Multiplication and Division, Bar Graphs, Fractions involving the part-whole relationship, Length, Volume and Area and Perimeter.
Skills and Techniques
In learning geometry, students will use set squares and rulers to check for right angles and draw parallel and perpendicular lines. They will also learn to apply heuristics including complex model drawing, before making a supposition and restating the problem, to solve word problems. Ultimately, students will develop critical thinking skills as they work on topical challenging problems and GEP handouts.
Applied Learning
Students will encounter the real-life application of maths concepts through in-class activities and games, such as participating in an auction in class to understand how money works or forming 3-dimensional structures with coloured cubes to explore their spatial sense.
Science
Lesson Duration: 1 hr 45 mins
Class Size: 12 students
Through curated tutorials, our Primary 3 Science programme offers interactive activities and hands-on experiments for your child to see how science shapes the world we live in, providing them with a solid foundation in basic science concepts and cultivating their critical thinking skills.

Content Mastery
Students will explore topics like the Diversity of Living and Non-living Things and the Classification of Living Things (plants, animals, fungi, bacteria), Life Cycles and Magnets.
Skills and Techniques
Students will learn key skills such as classification based on characteristics, comparison to identify similarities and differences, and question analysis to pick out the topic, concept and command word(s) to understand what the question is asking for. These skills will enable students to analyse data presented in tables and diagrams, interpret experiment set-ups and intent, as well as answer questions using relevant keywords and science terminology
Applied Learning
Students will engage in interactive games and activities like Guess the Fruit and Life Cycles Bingo as an enjoyable way to learn scientific facts. Through hands-on experiments such as Waterproof Warriors and Electrifying Electromagnet, they will observe science concepts in action, fostering a deeper interest. In addition, by sharing captivating passages and case studies in class, students will better relate to real-world examples and scenarios.
Hear What They Say About TLL
Because the difference we make is why we do what we do.
Ms. Audrey Tea
"Valerie really enjoys her lessons at The Learning Lab! She always shares with me that her teachers are cheerful and kind-hearted, and shower her with lots of encouragement. In addition to the nurturing environment, I am also extremely satisfied with the curriculum here.
In English classes, Valerie is taught specific writing techniques and introduced to model compositions, which enable her to digest and understand concepts more readily. Her composition has since improved from 58% to 95%, in a short span of half a year! Presentations conducted termly also offer Valerie a valuable edge in honing her public speaking skills.
As a parent, I am heartened to know that my child is in good hands and am confident that she will be able to excel academically and beyond."

"The Learning Lab is a perfect embodiment of how great companies are built on great products. Throughout the 8 years that my three children have been taking lessons at The Learning Lab, the teachers and staff have consistently delivered an excellent educational experience for them.
My eldest son, Arif, always looked forward to attending his classes! As a GEP student, he thoroughly relished how lessons are enriched with current affairs, famous personalities and interesting case studies. In his own words, “The lessons come alive”. It also helped that his teachers displayed tremendous dedication and extramural excellence, which fuelled his passion for learning. His time at The Learning Lab definitely stretched him well beyond his years, which was well reflected when he emerged as the 2nd highest PSLE scorer nationwide in 2011.
I will continue to entrust their education to TLL, as it has continually equipped my children with the tools and motivation to go further in life and succeed in their future undertakings."
