Writing
Through short writing exercises in the form of letters or folk tales, students exercise their creativity in different text types as they learn to apply basic writing techniques such as the 5Ws and 1H, along with the five-senses description.
Reading
With a structured reading programme, students can learn how to recognise important sight words and strengthen their reading foundation.
Communication
On top of weekly interactive storytelling sessions, students build their understanding, listening and speaking skills in class by:
- responding to opinion-based questions in different text types and mediums (e.g., stories, poems, factual texts and video clips); and
- giving short verbal presentations and poetry recitals.
Vocabulary and Grammar
Students will continue to build a strong vocabulary foundation with different monthly themes and learn more basic grammar rules, including Singular and Plural Nouns, Prepositions and Simple Present/Past Tense.
Contextualised Learning
Students engage in interactive activities with a wide range of themes that allow them to explore different parts of the world through topics such as tourist destinations, festivals, food and culture.
Mathematics

Content Mastery
In addition to basic maths concepts such as Numbers to 100, Fractions, Money, Measurement, Geometry and Managing Word Problems, students will learn new topics such as Introduction to Multiplication and Division as well as the place value concept of ‘tens’ and ‘ones’, while emphasising on the proper presentation of workings and number equations.
Skills and Techniques
With their ability to identify and relate to instructional keywords, students will learn to form addition and subtraction sentences by identifying parts and whole, and multiplication sentences by applying the multiplication rule. They can also use the value chart to solve vertical workings involving addition and subtraction. By jotting down annotations for word problems, students can solve them independently or with minimal guidance. In addition, students will learn various speed maths strategies and adopt their preferred calculation method, including new heuristics such as Guess and Check, to solve word problems.
Applied Learning
Students will play interactive games and participate in classroom role-playing activities that involve planning a timetable and making money transactions to equip them with the essential life skills for school. Students will also receive Number Idiom booklets to expand their maths vocabulary.
Hear What They Say About TLL
Because the difference we make is why we do what we do.
Mrs. Kavitha Xavier
"My child Sasha is so eager to attend class every week. Even if she is not feeling well, she is so focused and willing to attend the class. Since joining TLL, she has grown in confidence when handling Mathematical problems. I look forward to seeing more positive changes in her apart from how she handles her academic work. The most important thing is that she feels so relaxed and stress free after the end of 1hr 45 minutes class. That’s the success of TLL."
