Nurture a Passion to Learn
Nurture a Passion to Learn
As your child progresses to Kindergarten 1, it is time to further develop literacy and numeracy skills for better communication, interaction and understanding of the world. Through fun and dynamic reading and writing activities, we foster a love for learning in your child as they acquire the fundamental skills to read, write and count.

Writing
In short guided writing exercises, students learn to develop personal responses and express themselves creatively with simple sentences to describe pictures.
Reading
Students improve their reading ability with better phonemic awareness as they learn about consonant blends, vowel sounds, consonant digraphs and diphthongs.
Communication
On top of weekly interactive storytelling sessions, students build their understanding, listening and speaking skills in class by:
- answering short, written texts with simple true/false questions or MCQs;
- responding to verbal question and answer sessions with the teacher in class; and
- giving a mini verbal presentation in class based on a given theme.
Vocabulary and Grammar
Besides building a strong vocabulary foundation based on different monthly themes, students are also introduced to basic grammar concepts and parts of speech, including nouns, verbs and adjectives.
Contextualised Learning
With exposure to a wide range of themes that centre around people and their roles in key domains like travel, sports and leisure, students engage in a series of interactive activities, multi-sensory games and songs designed to reinforce key concepts learnt in class.
Mathematics

Content Mastery
Students will explore new topics like Managing Word Problems and Fundamental Skills for Model Drawing with activities and games to establish a basic understanding of concepts such as Numbers to 100, Fractions, Time, Money, Measurement and Geometry.
Skills and Techniques
After acquiring the ability to identify and apply instructional keywords, students will understand question requirements and start working on the daily maths exercises in their Junior Mathematician Booklets to master mental sums. With pictorial aids and number lines, students will learn to complete and form number sentences. They will also apply heuristics (problem-solving methods) such as Make a List, Restate the Problem, Act It Out and Draw a Diagram to solve word problems.
Applied Learning
Students will learn new concepts and maths vocabulary with the use of manipulatives by the teacher in class. To reinforce their learning, students will receive fun takeaways and booklets with stimulating storylines to assist in their understanding, so they can start to recognise simple maths relationships in daily experiences and use maths language to express ideas and solutions clearly.

Ms. Joanne Peh
"We love the curriculum! I like how it introduces key skillsets that would help in primary school (never too early to start I guess!) and yet keep the content exciting enough for my 5yo. She comes home telling me what she has learnt that week and it makes my day knowing she is enjoying her class. Her teacher creates supplementary materials to reinforce her learning. We appreciate her dedication."
