Our Speakers
Dr. Haiyan Tang
Managing Partner, Quinn Emanuel, Shanghai
Dr. Haiyan Tang is an expert in global government enforcement, investigations, compliance, and cross-border litigation and arbitration. Across industries, she has represented multinational clients in high-profile U.S. and Chinese government actions, specialising in corruptions, financial fraud, antitrust and competition issues, government sanctions, and trade politics. Dr. Tang has also designed top-tier compliance programs for complex Chinese businesses and conducted due diligence for leading private equity firms and investment banks. With her extensive litigation experience in the U.S., she has won high stake cross-border litigation and arbitration battles for many top companies.
With a J.D. from George Washington University, a M.A. from Yale, and a Ph.D. from Yale, Dr. Tang was also awarded accolades such as the Paul Grossman Coaching Award and recognition from Global Investigations Review as one of the top 100 female practitioners.
Mr. Duncan Watson
Managing Partner, Quinn Emanuel, Singapore
Duncan spent many years as a leader of Quinn Emanuel’s Asian arbitration practice in the Hong Kong office before he relocated to head the new Singapore office.
Notably, Who’s Who Legal (2021) listed him as one of the nine “most highly regarded” young arbitration partners in the Asia Pacific, and he was appointed King’s Counsel (England & Wales) in March 2021 at the age of 37.
Duncan has acted as counsel in international commercial and investment treaty arbitrations under most arbitral institutions and rules. His global clientele consists of a broad array of industries, including private equity and financial services, energy and resources, manufacturing, infrastructure, and intellectual property.
Duncan is a qualified lawyer in Australia and England & Wales. He hold a Bachelor of Laws (first class honours) from the University of Queensland and the Bachelor of Civil Law (distinction) from the University of Oxford.
